It's out on October 3 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. How does the overall story pan out in the end? And how deep can the gameplay be at higher levels?īattle Chasers: Nightwar is developed by Airstrip Syndicate and published by THQ Nordic. Bosses make me think about my every move, and the tides can easily turn if you don't pay attention to what the enemies are doing.Ĭrashes and bugs are consistent and I have an issue with the game's progression when new characters become playable and are now part of the overall group, but I'll go into more detail on my full review. Fishing is a thing in this game and so far it feels like a forced add-on that can be ignored completely instead of it being a fun distraction from all the monster killing. Puzzles found in the dungeons so far are easy but enough to break the routine of exploration and combat. With this much time invested in Battle Chasers: Nightwar I still find myself eager to push on, see where the story goes and to find that perfect team composition. So, there's a lot of planning needed, mixed in with some grinding that could come out as a problem for some players. I'm past the halfway mark based on the story but so far it's shaping up to be a decent RPG that fans of Battle Chasers would enjoy and a good introduction for those new to the franchise. They have an overcharge feature to give players the option to conserve their resources and a crafting system to use all the loot found on the world map and dungeons. Gameplay is your traditional turned-based RPG with a team of three characters. Cutscenes are presented in a comic book-like style and the voice acting and how they flesh out the relationship between each character as they are unlocked is quite a treat. Basic gameplay involves exploring the overworld. Every spell and motion for each character during combat is smooth and colorful. This page is the How To Play Guide For Battle Chasers: Nightwar. What I can say at this point is that the animation was translated well to compliment the source material's original art style. I'm deep into the game and the difficulty is ramping up quite well, testing my knowledge of the game's systems so far and punishing me if I don't enter a fight fully prepared. No full review just yet since I would like to spend a good amount of what this RPG has to offer. Battle Chasers: Nightwar is based on the comic book Battle Chasers and while I haven't had the chance to read the original source material, the game so far as of this writing is turning out to be a decent attempt by the new studio when it comes to the classic RPG format. It's a Kickstarted project that started a couple of years ago by ex-Vigil founders (Darksiders 1 and 2) and we are finally seeing it come out on multiple platforms, even on the Nintendo Switch (currently delayed and will be out at a later date). I'm currently going through this one and there are great things about this RPG, with issues that will come out as a miss for some players.
